Rains seem to have vanished suddenly, right in the middle of monsoon season and it is so so so hot in Delhi these days. I am chugging glasses full of cold water, iced teas, and ice creams to keep myself hydrated and cool!
I love having iced teas in such hot months. They provide the needed caffeine kick and the refreshing flavor comes from the lemon juice, mint, and so on. I love having a traditional Moroccan Mint Tea but serve it cold in these months and it is so amazing. Here’s a quick and easy recipe for this Moroccan Mint Iced Tea.
What is your go-to summer drink?
PREPARATION TIME: 10 minutes
COOKING TIME: 5 minutes
SERVINGS: 2
DIFFICULTY SCALE: Low
INGREDIENTS:
- Mint Tea Bags/ Tea powder – 3 bags (or 1 tablespoon)
- Sugar – 3-4 tablespoons (or less to taste)
- Lemon juice – 1 lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
- Ice cubes – ½ cup
- Mint Leaves – a few
- Pomegranate seeds – a few optional
UTENSILS/EQUIPMENT:
RECIPE:
- Boil water in a teapot or a pan and bring it to a boil. Add 3 bags of Turkish Mint Tea. If you are using regular tea, then add a few mint leaves now to extract flavor out of them.
- Add 3-4 tablespoons of sugar as per taste. I used brown sugar so I got a more intense brown color in my Moroccan Mint Iced Tea.
- Let them steep in hot water for 2-3 minutes to extract maximum flavor out of the bags.
- Let the mixture cool at room temperature for 5-10 minutes. (Strain the mixture if you are using loose tea powder/leaves or if you have added mint leaves).
- Refrigerate this mixture for about an hour so that it is properly chilled before use.
- Squeeze lemon juice in the iced tea mix. Now adjust the taste and add more lemon juice/sugar, if needed.
- Take serving glasses and add a few cubes of ice and add the chilled iced tea. Add a few mint leaves and pomegranate seeds.
Sit back and enjoy this fuss-free Moroccan Mint Iced Tea.
