Rains seem to have vanished suddenly, right in the middle of monsoon season and it is so so so hot in Delhi these days. I am chugging glasses full of cold water, iced teas, and ice creams to keep myself hydrated and cool!

I love having iced teas in such hot months. They provide the needed caffeine kick and the refreshing flavor comes from the lemon juice, mint, and so on. I love having a traditional Moroccan Mint Tea but serve it cold in these months and it is so amazing. Here’s a quick and easy recipe for this Moroccan Mint Iced Tea.

What is your go-to summer drink?

PREPARATION TIME: 10 minutes
COOKING TIME: 5 minutes
SERVINGS: 2
DIFFICULTY SCALE: Low

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Mint Tea Bags/ Tea powder – 3 bags (or 1 tablespoon)
  2. Sugar – 3-4 tablespoons (or less to taste)
  3. Lemon juice – 1 lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
  4. Ice cubes – ½ cup
  5. Mint Leaves – a few
  6. Pomegranate seeds – a few optional

UTENSILS/EQUIPMENT:

  1. Tea Pot or Pan
  2. Lemon squeezer
  3. Serving Glasses

RECIPE:

  1. Boil water in a teapot or a pan and bring it to a boil. Add 3 bags of Turkish Mint Tea. If you are using regular tea, then add a few mint leaves now to extract flavor out of them.
  2. Add 3-4 tablespoons of sugar as per taste. I used brown sugar so I got a more intense brown color in my Moroccan Mint Iced Tea.
  3. Let them steep in hot water for 2-3 minutes to extract maximum flavor out of the bags.
  4. Let the mixture cool at room temperature for 5-10 minutes. (Strain the mixture if you are using loose tea powder/leaves or if you have added mint leaves).
  5. Refrigerate this mixture for about an hour so that it is properly chilled before use.
  6. Squeeze lemon juice in the iced tea mix. Now adjust the taste and add more lemon juice/sugar, if needed.
  7. Take serving glasses and add a few cubes of ice and add the chilled iced tea. Add a few mint leaves and pomegranate seeds.

Sit back and enjoy this fuss-free Moroccan Mint Iced Tea.
