Instagram has an amazing wealth of information. Since I started my food channel – Masalamojo, I have come across so many talented fellow food bloggers from all parts of the world. I keep picking up a recipe from them. My recent find was this great Andhra style Mustard flavored Raw Banana veg/sabzi aka Ava Pettina Aratikaya Kura in Telugu.
What would you do when you have a big bunch of raw bananas crash from the tree leaving you with surplus raw bananas. You make chips, raw banana veggies, cutlets, and anything else you know. However, when I still could not finish them up, I turned to my Instagram friends from help and tried making this Mustard flavored Raw Banana veg as suggested by a friend.

It was a hit at my house. We really loved the soothing flavors and this has become a favorite style. I have cooked Arbi/Colocasia, Sweet potatoes, and pumpkin in this style and I liked all these variations too. Do try this simple recipe.

UTENSILS/EQUIPMENT:
- Pressure Cooker
- Wok/Kadhai

- OTG
RECIPE:
For boiling the bananas –
- Peel the raw bananas and dice them into bite-size round slices.
- Place the raw banana pieces in a pressure cooker with 2 cups of water.
- Add a little salt, oil, and turmeric powder to the water.

4. Keep it on high heat until a whistle comes. Remove from the heat and let the pressure release.
5. Strain and remove the boiled bananas. Cool them slightly.
For the mustard paste –
- Soak mustard seeds and rice in a small bowl with some water. Make sure that the water level is higher than the mustard and rice level.
- Add all the ingredients of the paste into a grinder and make a smooth paste. Bear in mind to adjust the salt quantity since we added some salt while boiling the bananas too.

For the tempering and veg/sabzi –
- Add oil in a wok/kadhai. Once it heats up, add mustard seeds and urad dal.
- Now add in the curry leaves, slit green chilies and asafetida.
- Add the mustard paste and let it cook for 2 minutes until the raw smell goes away.
- Now add the boiled raw bananas and mix well.

12. Cook for about 2 more minutes.
Mustard flavored Raw Banana veg is ready. Serve hot with rice.
